A Middle Tennessee State University police official says a suspect is in custody after a shooting on campus.
Lt. Jim Fangey said early this afternoon that information coming into his office indicated Murfreesboro City Police, who were aiding the campus force, caught the suspect in the aerospace building.
Fangey said the shooting appears to be an outgrowth of an argument between two students during which one produced a gun and shot the other.
Fangey described the wound as minor and said the victim was shot in the hand.
A campus alert was issued around noon, notifying students and staff members of the shooting and telling them to stay where they were inside buildings.A subsequent e-mail from the university canceled the alert and said the weapon was confiscated.
