Here are some thoughts from LSU’s 41-24 victory tonight over Texas A&M in the 75th edition of the Cotton Bowl.
-LSU won this game at the line of scrimmage where they simply dominated A&M. The Tigers rushed for 288 yards and continually manhandled the Aggies’ front seven. Stevan Ridley, who was reinstated for the game early this week, made an imprint, rushing for 105 yards on 24 carries.
-Cyrus Gray had his seventh consecutive 100-yard performance. Gray was a weapon all night long and averaged five yards per carry. The yards were tough to get against such a physical defense, but Gray continues to prove that he is one of the better feature backs in the country.
-The loss is the fifth consecutive bowl defeat for Texas A&M. The last bowl victory for A&M was in 2001. Coach Mike Sherman is now 0-4 against SEC teams as well.
-LSU went 9-for-15 on third downs tonight. Many of those came on scampers by quarterback Jordan Jefferson who did a great job getting through his reads, making good decisions and finding daylight
