If you have been watching the new Joan and Melissa Rivers show, you might have noted that the paintings in the home are blurred out and the reasons are twofold.
1) The artist may not have given his or her permission to use them in the show because they are artistic property and to display them in another medium (TV) is kind of against the law.
2) The celebrities night not want viewers knowing what certain artists and paintings they have in their home. If an art thief has a keen eye, they might see something they want and they’ll know where to get it.
Most of the time the answer is #1.
